Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal
information through our newspaper-generation app and related services (the "Service").
We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information
Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy
laws.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: your email address (used for sign-in, verification, and optional delivery of your edition).
- Content you submit: text you enter (notes about your day, selected calendar events, etc.) and photos/videos. Voice input is transcribed to text on your device; the audio itself is not stored off the device.
- Location: location attached to your photos (EXIF), or your current location if you allow it. If you turn on optional "automatic place logging," visited places and dwell times (via iOS Visits API; no continuous tracking). You can disable these at any time.
- Generated content & settings: the newspapers we generate for you, layout and reporter-name settings, and any people names you register.
- Device information: a push-notification device token.
- Billing: your subscription status. Payment card details are processed by Apple or our payment processor and are not stored by us.
2. How We Use Information
- To generate, display, and deliver your newspaper, and to provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- For sign-in, identity verification, and sending push notifications.
- To manage purchases and subscriptions.
- To prevent misuse and respond to your inquiries.
We collect and use personal information with your consent, which you may withdraw at
any time (subject to legal or contractual limits), as described in Section 9.
3. Service Providers and Disclosure
We share the minimum information necessary with the following categories of service
providers in order to operate the Service:
- Generative AI (e.g., large language models on Google Vertex AI): we send the text you submit to generate article copy.
- Weather data (e.g., OpenWeatherMap): we send location coordinates for the weather section.
- Email delivery (e.g., Resend / Mailgun): your email address, to send sign-in links and optional edition emails.
- Push notifications (Apple APNs): a device token, to deliver publication notices.
- Payments (Apple): to process purchases.
- Cloud hosting and backups: infrastructure we operate to store your data.
About your photos. We do not send your photos or videos to commercial
generative-AI providers. Photo analysis (caption generation and face detection) runs
only on servers we operate; we do not use any third-party face-recognition service.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Faces and People Information
- Face detection in your photos is performed on servers we operate. Results are handled as numeric features and are not disclosed to third parties.
- People names appear in your newspaper only if you register them yourself. Until then, a detected person is treated as "unknown" and no name is output (opt-in).
- This information is deleted when you delete your account (Section 7).
5. Children and Family Information
Because the Service turns family moments into a newspaper, your content may include
photos or names of family members, who may include children. This content stays under
your control and is not made public by us. If you include a child's information, you do
so as the parent or guardian responsible for that child, and you are responsible for
obtaining any consent required.
6. Shared Links
When you share an edition, we generate a signed, time-limited URL. Anyone with that
URL can view that edition until it expires. You control who you share it with. Your
editions are not disclosed to third parties unless you choose to share them.
7. Retention and Deletion
- Generated newspapers (PDF / images) are retained so you can keep viewing them.
- Some source material (such as uploaded photos) is automatically deleted after a limited period (approximately 7 days).
- Account deletion: you can delete your account from within the app ("Delete account"). This permanently removes your data (newspapers, photos, people information, settings). Deletion cannot be undone. To prevent re-registration of a deleted account, we retain your email address only in an irreversible form (a hash).
- Inactive accounts: we may also delete inactive accounts automatically — an account whose paid subscription ended more than one (1) year ago, or a free account that never subscribed, 30 days after its free trial ends. The same permanent deletion applies.
- Copies in backups are purged over time through routine rotation.
8. Storage and International Transfer
Your personal information may be stored and processed in Canada and in other countries
(including the United States) where we or our service providers operate. Information held
in another country is subject to the laws of that jurisdiction, including lawful access by
courts, law enforcement, and government authorities. By using the Service, you acknowledge
this transfer and processing.
9. Security
We protect information in transit using TLS encryption, store credentials in the
device's secure storage (e.g., the Keychain), and issue shared links as signed,
time-limited URLs.
10. Your Rights
Subject to PIPEDA and applicable provincial law, you may access and correct your
personal information and withdraw your consent to its collection and use. You can delete
your data using the in-app account-deletion feature or by contacting us. If you have a
concern we have not resolved, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of
Canada (priv.gc.ca) or your applicable provincial privacy regulator.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will
notify you within the Service.

本プライバシーポリシーは、当社が新聞生成アプリおよび関連サービス(以下「本サービス」といいます)を通じて、

個人情報を取り扱います。
1. 収集する情報
- アカウント情報: メールアドレス(サインイン、本人確認、および任意でのエディション配信に使用します)。
- お客様が送信するコンテンツ: 入力していただくテキスト(その日の出来事に関するメモ、選択したカレンダーの予定など)、および写真・動画。音声入力はお使いの端末上でテキストに変換されます。音声データ自体は端末外に保存されません。
- 位置情報: 写真に付随する位置情報(EXIF)、または許可いただいた場合の現在地。任意の「自動位置記録」機能をオンにした場合は、訪れた場所と滞在時間(iOSのVisits APIを使用。継続的な追跡は行いません)。これらの機能はいつでも無効にできます。
- 生成されたコンテンツおよび設定: 当社が生成する新聞、レイアウトおよび記者名の設定、ならびにお客様が登録した人物名。
- 端末情報: プッシュ通知用のデバイストークン。
- 課金情報: サブスクリプションの状態。クレジットカード情報はApple(App Store)または当社の決済処理業者が処理し、当社では保存しません。
2. 情報の利用方法
- 新聞の生成、表示、配信のため、および本サービスの提供・維持・改善のため。
- サインイン、本人確認、プッシュ通知の送信のため。
- 購入およびサブスクリプションの管理のため。
- 不正利用の防止、およびお問い合わせへの対応のため。
当社は、お客様の同意に基づき個人情報を収集・利用します。同意は、第9条に記載のとおり、法令上または
契約上の制限に従い、いつでも撤回いただけます。
3. サービス提供者への開示
当社は、本サービスを運営するために必要最小限の情報を、以下のカテゴリのサービス提供者と共有します。
- 生成AI(例: Google Vertex AI上の大規模言語モデル): 記事本文を生成するため、お客様が送信したテキストを送信します。
- 気象データ(例: OpenWeatherMap): 天気セクションのために位置座標を送信します。
- メール配信(例: Resend / Mailgun): サインインリンクおよび任意のエディションメールを送信するため、メールアドレスを送信します。
- プッシュ通知(Apple APNs): 発行通知を配信するため、デバイストークンを送信します。
- 決済(Apple): 購入処理のため。
- クラウドホスティングおよびバックアップ: お客様のデータを保存するために当社が運用するインフラストラクチャ。
写真について。 当社は、お客様の写真や動画を商用の生成AIプロバイダーに送信することは
ありません。写真解析(キャプション生成および顔検出)は当社が運用するサーバー上でのみ実行され、
第三者の顔認識サービスは一切使用していません。
当社は、お客様の個人情報を販売しません。
4. 顔および人物情報
- 写真内の顔検出は、当社が運用するサーバー上で実行されます。結果は数値的な特徴量として扱われ、第三者に開示されることはありません。
- 新聞に人物名が表示されるのは、お客様ご自身が登録した場合に限ります。登録されるまでは、検出された人物は「unknown(不明)」として扱われ、名前は出力されません(オプトイン方式)。
- この情報は、お客様がアカウントを削除した際に削除されます(第7条)。
5. 子どもおよび家族に関する情報
本サービスは日々の家族の瞬間を新聞に変えるものであるため、お客様のコンテンツには、子どもを含む
家族の写真や名前が含まれる場合があります。このコンテンツはお客様の管理下に置かれ、当社が公開することは
ありません。子どもの情報を含める場合、お客様はその子どもについて責任を負う保護者としてこれを行うものとし、
必要な同意を取得する責任を負います。
6. 共有リンク
エディションを共有すると、当社は署名付きの、有効期限のあるURLを生成します。そのURLを知っている人は
誰でも、有効期限が切れるまでそのエディションを閲覧できます。共有する相手はお客様が管理します。
お客様のエディションは、お客様が共有を選択しない限り、第三者に開示されません。
7. 保存期間および削除
- 生成された新聞(PDF・画像)は、お客様が引き続き閲覧できるよう保存されます。
- アップロードされた写真などの一部の元データは、一定期間(おおむね7日間)経過後に自動的に削除されます。
- アカウントの削除: アプリ内(「アカウントを削除」)からいつでもアカウントを削除できます。これにより、新聞、写真、人物情報、設定を含むお客様のデータが完全に削除されます。削除は取り消せません。削除済みアカウントの再登録を防ぐため、メールアドレスのみを不可逆な形式(ハッシュ値)で保持します。
- 休止アカウント: 有料サブスクリプションの終了から1年(1)以上経過したアカウント、または一度も有料登録をしたことがない無料アカウントで無料トライアル終了から30日経過したものについても、当社は自動的に削除する場合があります。同様に完全に削除されます。
- バックアップ内のコピーは、通常のローテーションを通じて経時的に消去されます。
8. 保管および国際的な移転
お客様の個人情報は、カナダ、および当社または当社のサービス提供者が事業を行うその他の国(米国を含みます)
において保存・処理される場合があります。他国で保管される情報は、裁判所、法執行機関、政府当局による
適法なアクセスを含め、当該法域の法律の適用を受けます。本サービスをご利用いただくことにより、お客様は
この移転および処理に同意したものとみなされます。
9. セキュリティ
当社は、通信経路上の情報をTLS暗号化により保護し、認証情報は端末の安全な保管領域(例: Keychain)に
保存し、共有リンクは署名付きの有効期限付きURLとして発行します。
10. お客様の権利
PIPEDAおよび適用される州法に従い、お客様は自己の個人情報にアクセスし、これを訂正し、また収集・利用への
同意を撤回することができます。アプリ内のアカウント削除機能を利用するか、当社にご連絡いただくことで、
データを削除できます。当社による対応で解決しない懸念がある場合は、カナダプライバシーコミッショナー事務局
(priv.gc.ca)または該当する州のプライバシー規制機関にご連絡いただけます。
11. 本ポリシーの変更
当社は、本ポリシーを随時更新することがあります。重要な変更を行う場合は、本サービス内でお知らせします。
